Safety and Training Manager

We're looking for a Safety and Training Manager to lead safety and training initiatives across our Coachlines, InterCity and Tourism (CIT) Division driving compliance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and making a meaningful impact on our teams and the communities we serve.
Based at our group office in Masterton Wairarapa, this role involves regular travel to our businesses across New Zealand. Our CIT Division plays a vital role in keeping kiwi communities connected, delivering a wide range of transport solutions nationwide. Backed by a passionate and committed team, we're proud to provide safe, reliable transport services that make a real difference every day.
The role:
- Safety Leadership and Risk Management - champion a strong safety culture that proactively identifies risk and implements practical solutions without unnecessary complexity.
- Training Delivery- oversee our CIT training framework ensuring training meets our compliance and operational requirements and the capabilities of our driving teams. You'll champion adaptable training methods that respond to the needs of our people and the realities of our industry.
- Coaching and Collaboration - Build trust by being visible, listening and coaching our managers and teams in an influential way that guides safe behaviours, informed decision making and effective training delivery.
- Continuous Improvement - consistently drive the development of improved safety and training outcomes through analytics, audits and feedback loops that enhance operational performance.
We are looking for:
- An experienced H&S professional with strong knowledge of H&S legislation and ISO45001.
- Proven safety leadership and training delivery experience ideally within an operational environment either in transport or a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of effective training methods and frameworks with a forward-looking approach.
- A coaching and communication style that is respectful, and people-first.
- Excellent relationship-building and collaboration skills.
- Strong risk management skills grounded in real-world operations.
- A reputation for integrity, transparency, and follow-through.
